Itinerary

Journey Plan

On 8th June, Participants would need to reach New Delhi station at 5:30 am. Meeting up with Wildrift chaperons and getting settled in Kathgodam Shatabdi as per the seats allocated.

The train Departs at 6:20 am. Breakfast on board.

Reach Kathgodam station at 12:00 noon.

Transfer in Jeeps (5-6 participants per vehicle).

Departure from Kathgodam station at 12:30 pm. Each vehicle would have a light snack basket (light sandwich, juice, fruit and chocolates) these jeeps are regular with Wildrift and the drivers are all trained about the children group protocols.

Reach camp Purple Mukteshwar for Lunch at 2:30 pm.

Camp Purple action starts post lunch.

On 9th June, post the sunrise walk and breakfast start from the camp at 7:30 am in same vehicles for a beautiful road journey to camp River edge Ramganga (e) Wildrift facilitators would accompany during the journey.

Reach campsite by lunch. Followed by camp action.

Return Journey

Early morning departure from camp at 5:00 am on day 7 (same vehicles to transfer the participants back to Kathgodam)

Stop for breakfast at 8:30 am at a designated place. A small tea/snack break at 11:30 am at a pre decided place. Lunch at Kathgodam at about 1:30 pm.

Reach Railway station at 2:45 pm to board the return Shatabdi departing at 3:20 pm. Evening snack and dinner on Board.

Reach New Delhi Station at 8:50 pm. Dispersal.  (Wildrift facilitators to accompany throughout the journey)

Accommodation Plan

American Safari Tents – each tent would accommodate 3 students.

The tent would be furnished with mats & ground bedding along with fresh linen, quilts and pillows for comfortable sleep while camping in the outdoors next to the river.

There is space for students to keep their luggage and other belongings.

Tented beach Shacks –5 raised shacks with wooden flooring, each shack can accommodate 5 Participants. These shacks would be furnished with mats & ground bedding along with fresh linen, quilts and pillows for comfortable sleep while camping in the outdoors next to the river.

Washroom Facility –

8 western toilets in the common washroom area duly marked for girls and boys. There would be 2 washrooms reserved for Wildrift chaperons (male – female).

Additionally there are 5 washrooms with bathing facility as well. (One with each shack)

There are 6 bathing facility in the common washroom area clearly marked for girls, boys and Wildrift chaperons.

An orientation about the shared space and community living would be done before the trip, as well as at the campsite.

Logistics and Accommodation

In alpine tents and tent shacks with ground bedding/ mats and quilts ensure a comfortable stay in the wilderness.
Hygienic toilets with w/c and running water flushes are also provided. Hammocks, driftwood and campfire stools blending with the natural environment are interspersed at the campsite.

Maintaining the natural jungle environment no electricity is used at the camp.
Kerosene/solar lanterns are used to light the camp adequately during the night. Charging points for cameras are provided at the camps. We strongly discourage getting cell phones.

Food

The camp kitchen provides wholesome and fresh Indian/Continental cuisine along-with local delicacies.
We ensure that the children enjoy the meals and the menu generally is planned keeping in mind the children sensibilities and nutrition. Milk/Tea/coffee/juices are served at regular intervals.

The camp will provide safe drinking RO water.

Safety

1.All instructors at the camp are qualified from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and have at least a three decade long experience
in handling adventure activities at the camp.

2.Our facilitators travel with the group (from Delhi to Delhi) on the bus/train and further journey to ensure easy and safe passage for the group.

3.Safety being our first concern we ensure that all activities are planned and executed ensuring a zero risk factor.

Medical Details

1.Government nursing home is 3 km from the campsite, is equipped with all basic medical facilities including x-rays and laboratory.

2.Our camp staff themselves is also qualified first aid provider.

3.The bigger government hospital in Pithoragarh, which is 60 km from the camp.

Things to be carried

Basic comfortable clothing like shorts, T-shirts, Track- pants, Sweat- shirts, etc.

Personnel toiletries and towel

One warm sweater and a warm (pref. rain proof) jacket, to be carried for evenings and early mornings.

Comfortable walking/trekking shoes and slippers for lounging at camp and near water areas.

Water bottle, Torch with extra pair of batteries (mandatory).

One writing pad and a pen.

Caps, binoculars, sunglasses etc. are recommended.

One small Backpack / daypack to carry stuff while on short walks.

Books on wildlife, plants and birds are helpful for the nature and wildlife enthusiasts.

Travel light and pack everything in a rucksack / handbag which can easily be carried by you.

This adventure offers slices of Intense Himalayan experiences. We camp on white sands of Ramganga (e), Glacier River. A combination of water adventure, trekking and Himalayan village experiences are all part of the drift.

The river is the theme this summer, we swim in pristine glacier river, we do white water kayaking, we trek along the river, fish the Himalayan snow trouts, jump in magic pools, slither down the bridge, cycle our way around the river valley, prepare picnic lunches next to the river, stop by small villages and ancient temples, mingle with local inhabitants, primary the bhotia people of the river valley, learn a traditional craft from them, camp out the night with magnificent views of the valley below and paint the river with its water as a take away.

The route to the campsite itself is through the heartland of Kumaon and offers insights into the beauty of the Kumaon hills. We break journey the first day at camp Purple Mukteshwar collect a few fruits for ourselves & our playmates at Ramganga beach camp (Peaches. Plums, apricots… make our journey more delicious)
