Red Forest Trek

This is a circular trek which explores the region around the Namik Glacier. The trail passes through red petal strewn paths, high mountain passes, Rhododendron and Oak forests, waterfalls, streams and pristine villages. Especially unique at this time of year are the Rhododendron trees which flower during this season, blooming a bloody red. Camp out at high altitude meadows with views of gleaming white Himalayan peaks. The trek ends at a beach on the Ramganga river where we can indulge in White water Kayaking, swimming, fishing and sunbathing.
Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Kathgodam to Li (7 hours). Overnight in Home stay.
Day 2: Drive 1 hour to Gogina village at the base of the Namik valley. Trek 5 km to Namik village – this is a very remote village with ancient houses and open fields and very local pahadi culture. Camp in the meadows above the village. Amazing views.
Day 3: Trek to Bajemania (8 km) through thick Oak and Rhododendron Forest. Camp out at Bajemania – these are wide open meadows with a magical pond close by and amazing Himalayan views.
Day 4: Hike down to roadhead 11 km via Sur-Sundari pass to Bala – a path cutting through the meadows. Take jeeps to Camp Ramganga (one hour drive). Camp on the riverside.
Day 5: Explore all the possible action at Camp Ramganga. Possibilities – white water kayaking, swimming with life jackets in the river, different kinds if hikes, mountain biking, bridge slithering, body surfing.
Day6: DrivebacktoKathgodam(7hours)
