Camp Shaama

Location : Here you are in the heart of the Central Himalayan wilderness surrounded by the biggest indian peaks – Nanda Devi (7848 m), Nanda Kot (6861m), Trishul (7120 m). Wildrift’s base camp in the Naamik valley is perched on a mountain top in the Gyandhura village (Shaama) about 50 kms ahead of Bageshwar town.

Possible action : According to your interest & inclination, you can vary the intensity of your experience. A leisurely walk in the hilly countryside, a day hike to the ancient shiva temple for the annual village fair, overnight camping near a waterfall, a fishing trip to the river on a mountain bike or a more challenging (3 – 8 days) trek deeper into the Ramganga valley leading upto the Naamik glacier.

The village here is primarily agriculture based and one can feast on fresh organically grown high altitude vegetables particularly in the Autumn / Winter season. visitors can try harvesting the produce and cooking their own meals for a change.

For Himalayan and trans-Himalayan treks through Munsiyari and beyond, Camp Shaama is as an ideal base camp.
