Both Saat-tal and Kyari are a bird-watcher's
paradise. The foothills near Camp Kyari are
always a nice sanctuary from the hustle and
bustle of the north Indian plains and are excellent
for viewing a variety of birds like Little and
Spotted Forktails, Wallcreeper, Mountain Hawk
Eagle, Lesser Fish Eagle, Orange-bellied Leafbird
and Lesser Yellownape, Brown Fish Owl, Wren
Babbler, Great and Oriental Pied Hornbills,
Red-breasted Parakeet, Red-billed Leiothrix
and Ashy Bulbul, Grey-capped Pygmy Woodpeckers,
Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrikes and Scarlet Minivets,
Bee-eater, Golden Oriole, sandpiper.
The best season in Kyari is from mid-November
to April.
In Saat-tal the proximity of the lakes and
the reserve forest around make for excellent
birding. Chestnut Thrush and Slaty-headed Parakeet,
Scaly Thrushes, Whisting Thrush, Golden Bush
Robin, Scaly-breasted and Rufous-bellied woodpeckers,
Khaleej Pheasant, Rufous cheeked Scimitar Babbler,
White crested, Streaked, Rufous-chinned and
white bellied Laughing Thrush, Rufous bellied
Niltava, Grey-backed Shrike, Black-headed jay,
Black-lored and Black-throated tits, Black bulbul,
Ashy-throated and Lemon-rumped warblers, Black-chinned
babbler,a host of water birds such as White-capped
and Plumbeous Water Redstarts are some of the
birds which can be spotted here.
The best time for birding in Saat-tal is from
mid-November to June.
