Saat
Tal
(Latitude 29° 26' N and longitude 79°
28' E; altitude 1350 m)
Saat Tal is a group of seven natural lakes.
Of these five are perennial - Ram Tal,
Sita Tal, Lakshman Tal, Hanuman Tal and
Garur Tal; two are seasonal - Sookha Tal
and Biyun Tal. The perennial lakes are
named after the main characters in India's
best known epic - the Ramayan. The placid
water of these lakes holds great charm.
The lakes lie in the basin of the surrounding
hills. The presence of reserve forests,
consisting of dense mixed jungle, in the
vicinity of these natural waters greatly
add to the charm. There are a few villages
in the area. A few old bungalows and a
Church from the British era still stand.
Special visual effects of these lakes
can be captured under varying weather
conditions - in the rain, fog, mist and
cloud.
